My Essential Oil Skincare Routine

My skincare routine has changed drastically in the past few years. My super dry skin has always demanded lots of moisture but last year I started experiencing some changes. Mainly cyclical breakouts. After trying what felt like a million different things I landed on this routine that cleared up the breakouts. Is my skin perfect now? No. I am, however, to a nice maintenance routine and keeping the breakouts at bay.

The first step comes with a confession: The only time I use a facial cleanser is when I have worn cosmetics that day. Lately I have really enjoyed Pa’akai Cream Cleanser when needed. I have also used, and loved, Mad Hippie Cream Cleanser for this position in my routine. If I haven’t worn cosmetics I will simply wet my skin, dampen a washcloth, and give a nice light exfoliation.

Next, while my skin is still damp I will use Yarrow|Pom. This is the Yarrow essential oil in Pomegranate oil. This feels luxe and my skin loves it. I put a drop on my forehead, nose, each cheek, my lips, and two down my neck. I gently smooth it onto my skin, never pulling or tugging. There is a fair amount of gentle pressing in of the oil as well.

After that I have two options.

If I am experiencing breakouts I will put a drop of Yarrow|Pom in the palm of my hand with one drop Melaleuca (Tea Tree) and one drop of Patchouli. The Patchouli is very calming and great for aging skin. The Melaleuca is great for the break outs themselves. The trio of Yarrow|Pom, Melaleuca, and Patchouli is what brought my skin back to homeostasis after experiencing some really horrendous breakouts last year.

If I want a little more luxury to my skincare I will put a drop of Yarrow|Pom in the palm of my hand with one drop Frankincense and one drop Copaiba. Frankincense is amazing for cell rejuvenation and Copaiba helps Frankie boy do his work even better. Copaiba is a special oil in that whatever you pair is with works even better with your body. She’s special that way. These oils help my skin look brighter and smoother.
