Cootie Protocol

After my girl woke up recently with a scratchy throat and sinuses that were a little stuffy, looking like she’d barely slept even though she got a full 12 hours I jumped right into our cootie protocol. **Please read the note below. <3

First things first I grabbed Onguard. I diluted it with jojoba oil and massaged using downstrokes with a light touch on the side of the neck. I also massaged her back with the remainder of the oil to help ease tension. You know when you don’t feel good you hold all sorts of tension in your muscles… this is an easy way to bring relief because physical touch is so powerful and comforting.

Next, we had our normal breakfast but this time with hot tea. The girl loves (I do mean LOVES) hot peppermint tea. After breakfast, she got a teaspoon of elderberry syrup (we love Gaia Elderberry Syrup), one capsule of Zinc, two OnGuard beadlets, and lots and lots of rest and H20. This meant not pushing her to do school in bed, or to read something, or to do anything except REST and hydrate. In the evening she got a second dose of elderberry syrup.

We followed this pattern for two days, only removing the second dose of elderberry on day two. By day three she was good to go. The gratitude I have for having access to these amazing natural tools for wellness is overwhelming. I remember feeling stuck not too many years ago when it hadn’t quite clicked yet that nature has some answers for us. Ugh, to be able to go back and tell that young mama she had options! But then, I might not be here telling you if I didn’t know the difference it could make.
