DIY: Body Oil
One of the best thing about essential oils is the variety of ways that they can be used. This DIY is one way I use oils daily.
This body oil is best used right after a shower or bath. Using it while still wet helps to seal in moisture. This oil is beautifully fragrant and helps keep dryness and irritation at bay.
The container I use is a recycled doTERRA Yarrow|Pom Body Serum bottle. It’s a beautiful glass bottle. I love recycling old glass bottles because 1. It keeps them out of landfills and 2. It’s financially frugal.
DIRECTIONS
To whatever 100mL glass bottle you choose add the following essential oils:
2 drops Tea Tree
2 drops Patchouli
2 drops Pink Pepper
2 drops Frankincense
2 drops Myrhh
3 drops Green Mandarin
1 drops Helicrysum
1 drops Ylang Ylang
1 drops Copaiba
2 drops Vetiver
2 drops Guiacwood
3 drops Sandalwood
3 drops Madagascar Vanilla
A note about dilution rate: This recipe is 26 drops essential oil total in a 100mL bottle which makes approximately a 1.5% dilution rate. If you want less concentration you can add fewer drops of essential oil.
After I add the essential oils I add in a variety of moisturizing carrier oils plus some serums for added benefit. You can customize the serums and carrier oils to whatever you have on hand and work well for your skin. My skin is dry and easily loses moisture so this recipe works for me.
Then add to the bottle:
1 -2 droppers of Mad Hippie Vitamin C Serum
2-3 pumps doTERRA Immortelle Serum
4 pumps Acure Plant Squalene
10 pumps doTERRA Body Renewal Serum
7-8 pumps doTERRA Body Carrier Oil Blend
8 pumps Acure Argan Oil
Fill the rest of the bottle with Sweet Almond Oil and Fractionated Coconut Oil
If you don’t want to add serums you can simply fill with your favorite carrier oil.
Every single bit of this DIY can be customized to your preference during that season. During the summer months when the humidity is at its peak I don’t need as much moisture so I will use mostly Fractionated Coconut Oil to top off the bottle and less Sweet Almond Oil.
Within a minute’s time you have a perfectly customized DIY for your skin. You can make this for a fraction of the cost of a high quality body oil (ranging up to $120 a bottle) with all the benefits of pure essential oils. Even with all of the high quality ingredients this body oil sits roughly at a cost of $40 per bottle!
Enjoy playing around with this recipe. I recommend using the essential oils you have on hand that are soothing and good for the skin (think florals, woods, and resins) and any carrier oils you already have, adding in anti-aging serums as a bonus. Use what you have and have fun creating it!

It’s that time of year again. Spring is in full bloom and the insects are making their home a little too close. (i.e. inside my home)…
