DIY: Bathbombs
Bathbombs are a fantastic addition to any bath but they can hide some less than desirable ingredients. I'm a huge fan of everything DIY because I know exactly what was put into the item and how it was made.
I did some research on different bath bomb recipes. This is my own recipe that I decided on because I had some definite ideas on what I wanted the bathbomb to accomplish. They can sometimes be drying so I added vegetable glycerin for an extra boost of moisture. My daughter and I love this recipe and we hope you love it as well.
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup baking soda
1/2 cup citric acid
3/4 cup cornstarch
3/4 cup epsom salt
2 tablespoons coconut oil
2 teaspoons water
2 teaspoons vegetable glycerin
40 drops of essential oil: Our blend was 15 drops Motivate, 10 Lime, 5 Bergamot, 5 Patchouli
DIRECTIONS:
In a large bowl combine the baking soda, citric acid, cornstarch and epsom salt.
In a small bowl combine the coconut oil, water, vegetable glycerin and essential oils of your choice.
SLOWLY add the wet ingredients to the dry constantly stirring. Add a tiny bit and stir until it is absorbed. Add a tiny bit more and stir until it is absorbed. This takes some time so do not attempt this recipe when you are in a hurry.
When the wet and dry ingredients are all combined put your concoction into molds. We used a mini-cupcake baking tray. Make sure you press the ingredients into the molds very well. This recipe took up about 22 out of 24 spots on our tray. We left them to dry for 48 hours to make sure they were actually dry. I have prematurely turned bath bombs out and had them melt down a bit and harden as one big bathbomb. Not the best.
We have our bathbombs stored in a large jar in the bathroom, sealed and ready to fizz when we are ready for a nice long bath.
