Just Everyday Beauty

Spring Musings

Spring is in full force here. (How lucky we are, I know.) The azaleas, jasmine, forest rose, camellia, and citrus are blooming. The scent wafting in the air is heavenly this time of year. The seeds I planted are up and just getting their first true leaves. And I’m feeling the rush of spring as well.

I started learning to read Egyptian hieroglyphs. I’ve been working on the Inkle loom trying to wrap up a runic weave band I’ve had on the loom for way too long. I’ve been wanting to move my body more (which my body is in the cycle of having a hard time with - but still I try).

It’s always in this changing of seasons from one to the next I feel the newness and I reflect on my own life and our lives together as humans. I think a lot about how much beauty we are able to put into the world, and how much beauty exists around us in the natural world. I also, especially presently, have been thinking about how much horror we are capable of committing. I do not think we are doomed - baring a natural, cataclysmic disaster - I believe we are capable of changing the tides and that living in peace is possible.

I believe we are capable of compromise and of helping one another to thrive. We are capable of laying down our mental and physical weapons to form a greater peace than force could give us.
