DIY: Custom Diffuser Blends

Some diffuser blends are a little too complex to just drop the desired amount in the diffuser blend. Maybe an oil you are using is precious and you want to use just a very small amount for your blend. This DIY is just for you.

First things first, remove the sticker from an empty essential oil bottle. Use the ultimate sticky remover, Lemon, to take off any remaining residue. (Drop a few drops on the sticky parts, distribute around the bottle, let sit for a moment or two, put a drop on an old rag or paper towel and wipe away.) When you are done with that you can simply fill the bottle with the ratio that you want of the oils in your blend.

One of my signature scents is this ratio of oils:

20 drops Patchouli

12 drops Sandalwood

10 drops Madagascar Vanilla

8 Ylang Ylang

6 Bergamot

6 Grapefruit

5 Lavender

4 Clary Sage

This amount makes about 1/3 of a 15mL bottle. I like to do smaller amounts at a time but that’s me. You could easily scale up the recipe for the amount you’d like to create.

When you have all the oils you want in your bottle simply place the dropper top back into the bottle and you’re all ready to enjoy your custom diffuser blend.

It’s a great way to reuse old bottles and a great way to make more complex diffuser blends for your home.
