November Petit Vour Box Review

It’s time for another Petit Vour box review. This is a review of their standard monthly subscription box. As a monthly payment the cost is $18 a month but as you will see the box is always valued at much higher than the subscription fee itself.

Lavido Mandarin Aromatic Body Lotion (30mL). A cursory glance at the ingredient list and I knew I’d have to plug this one into EWG Skin Deep Make Your Own Report.* This Aromatic Body Lotion scored a 6. For me, that’s a high number. One of the problem ingredients is “fragrance” which alone scores a 9. “Frangrance” is a dangerous ingredient to see on labels because it could be any number of synthetics that are known to cause health problems. Lavido does have a “no list” for ingredients so that may or may not ease your mind. Other ingredients that triggered the higher score are: Benzyl Alcohol, Citral, Salicylic Acid, and Scorbic Acid.

Thoughts: I won’t use it. There are too many ingredients that scored above a 2. It is valued at $5.

Josephone Cosmetics L’oeil Definite - The Eye Define (Full Size). This liquid eyeliner is felt tipped, richly pigmented and is completely waterproof. Through the Make Your Own Report on Skin Deep this scores a 3. Every ingredient is cleared as a 1 except the waxes (Candelilla and Carnuba) which the report defined as “waxes” and rated them each as a 4. A quick search with the search bar renders Candelilla and Carnuba wax score of 1.

Thoughts: This is a clean product, friends. I’m over the moon. I will use this happily. It is valued at $26.

Juice Beauty Peel Sensitive Exfoliating Mask (15mL). This is “formulated with botanical juices and alpha hydroxy acids [it] exfoliates and refines to reduce dark spots and discoloration, delivering spa-grade exfoliation revealing a brighter complexion.” Make Your Own Report gives this a 3. The trouble ingredients are: Glycolic Acid, Sodium Hydroxide, Lactic Acid, and Aloe Vera Juice.

Thoughts: Being that this is a peel I am pleased that it scored a 3 and only had four ingredients flagged. I think I can live with the score and ingredient list as it will be used sparsely and not for extended periods of time. It is valued at $11.

Last but not least we have Leahlani Bless Beauty Balm (7mL). “Bless your skin with potent, skin-softening and skin-nourishing ingredients.” Make Your Own Report gives scores this as a 1. Hands down a clean, beautiful product.

Thoughts: It smells AMAZING. I’m happy to use this product and am so excited it was one of the items in this box as I’ve heard such good things about it. It is valued at $13.

Final Takeaway: I am happy with this box. I will not be able to use one of the products but there are 2 super clean products I’m beaming about (Bless Beauty Balm and The Eye Define) and one product I’ll use occasionally with a smile on my face (Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel).

*They have changed this feature quite a bit FYI. We used to be able to sign in and save and share reports. Now you may enter ingredient list and get a read out on your screen. Saving the report is no longer an option. As the gate keeper of your home I encourage you to use this feature of their website even though we are no longer able to save our reports. These reports generated automatically by the system are not approved by a scientist but they are a good indicator of whether or not you will be comfortable using the product.
