The Environmental Working Group website Skin Deep {www.ewg.org/skindeep} has been such a great resource for me in my journey of eliminating toxins and it is time I share it with you as well.

The site itself is easy to use, but first lets talk about why you might want to check it out.

More and more companies are jumping onto the “green” bandwagon. It is becoming mainstream to use natural products in our homes and companies are onto this. They know exactly what keywords and even colors and patterns to use to make us believe we are buying something natural. This is why reading labels is so important.

Looking at the ingredient list on many, even clean, products makes it feel like we need to be a chemist to understand what is inside our favorite products. Enter EWG Skin Deep.

You can search particular brands, products, and specific ingredients to educate yourself before you buy and while you are deciding what products to keep in your home. If a report for a particular product doesn’t exist you can easily create your own using the product’s ingredients list. The only downfall to making your own report is that it isn’t searchable but you can bookmark it on your browser and have repeated access to it that way.

I recommend becoming acquainted with this website as it is a resource that you can come back to again and again as you continue to make healthy choices for your home.
